5 Tips for Warming Up a White Room
Love an all-white room but worried it will feel sterile and cold? Curious how to give an all-white room character and charm?
The key is to bring in warming elements that balance the white. Here are 5 of my favorite tips for warming up any white room:
#1 Textiles
Textiles inherently add warmth, and they are so versatile. I always recommend adding a rug to any space, it brings in color and texture (not to mention warmth for your chilly feet!). You can also layer in pillows, curtains, and throws. The list goes on and on.
#2 Wood
Anything inspired by nature is sure to warm up a space. The best thing about wood is that it comes in so many options of colors and textures. You can go with something darker to give the space a more traditional or luxe feel, or something lighter for a beachy/casual vibe. It’s also fun to mix and match!
#3 Art
Art not only adds warmth to a room, but it’s the easiest way to show your style. White walls provide a gallery-style backdrop for any kind of art you choose to bring into your house. I love to bring in different metals and frame colors to add even more texture and interest.
#4 Greenery
This comes as no surprise to anyone, but in my opinion, a room just isn’t finished without a plant or two (or 40). There are many varieties that are low maintenance for even the blackest thumb. However, for my clients that just can not commit to a live plant, there are some amazing faux options now.
#5 Architectural Details
Last but least, adding architectural details like crown molding, a grid wall, wainscoting, etc., can turn a plain room into a sophisticated showpiece. I love painting both the walls and details all-white for a crisp, subtle look.
