Warm Traditional Part 1

We’ve been working on an awesome family’s home for the past several months. One room is finally complete and I just couldn’t wait to share it! Keep reading to see how our process works.

Background

Our clients have 3 kids and lots of pets (basically our ideal client), so they wanted everything durable and functional. The existing Breakfast room was made slightly smaller due to a kitchen remodel, so they were in need of all new furniture. This is a space that is used daily and also where people come in and out to get to the pool, so we needed a rug that could take high traffic, and furniture that allowed space for that traffic. Client’s style is traditional and she wanted the home to feel warm and inviting and to reflect the family.

The Process

Traditional Interior Design Style, Breakfast room interior design, Interior design Traditional, Ojai interior design

After going over the client’s Design Questionnaire and reviewing some inspiration images, we came up with this mood board. Obviously this was not the first draft, but this is what we landed on. (Side note, this art piece was already owned by the client and was the inspiration for the room).

Once the Design Concept was approved, we began selecting and ordering the items. The table was custom made and definitely had the longest lead time, but it turned out beautifully! Right now lead times are the most difficult part of a remodel. Sometimes items are worth the wait, and sometimes it’s best to just reselect.

Final Results

You can’t tell in the photos, but the wallpaper is actually a grasscloth! It adds a textural element to the room. The seat cushions were custom-made with a very durable fabric that can be sat in, spilled on, you name it!
