From 80s Nostalgia to Calming Oasis: The Transformative Journey of an Office Makeover

I typically do residential work, but one of my beloved clients recently approached me, asking if I could work my magic on their office space. Without hesitation, I agreed, and off we went on a delightful adventure, transforming their outdated 80s office into a relaxing oasis!

Background

You know those clients who become more like friends? That's exactly who reached out to me for this unique project. As I stepped into the time capsule of an office, I couldn't help but be greeted by a blast from the past. Vibrant floral wallpaper adorned the walls, showcasing the boldness of the 80s era. And oh, the charm of the orangey wood furniture and the lush green carpet that transported me back in time! While we had to work with these existing elements, I saw it as a creative challenge. I was determined to find a way to calm the orange tones and make the green carpet nearly disappear. Here are some before photos so you can see for yourself:

We started the project by selecting the wallpaper. We knew we needed something neutral that would go with the existing wood and carpet. We landed on this really cool geometric, almost sisal-looking pattern (that was actually super durable vinyl). With the wallpaper choice nailed down, our attention shifted to the task of selecting the perfect fabric for the chair upholstery. This fabric needed to effortlessly blend with both the wallpaper and the wood and carpet ensemble. After careful deliberation, we arrived at a beautiful blue/grey shade that not only complemented the overall aesthetic but also possessed the ability to withstand the demands of frequent sitting and the occasional encounters with grease and dirt. (Oh, by the way, did I mention this was for a motorcycle company?) See our selections above.
